To top it all off, I listen to one of my favorite LPs via the Cascade. To do this, I connected the turntable to Einstein's The Turntable's Choice and this to the XLR inputs of the DAC. Zakir Hussain's album Making Music is on the platter of the LaGrange. Even if I now listen to the title track instead of "Anisa", which I usually choose, the Cascade's preamp captivates me with a dynamic and openness rarely heard before: It's great how powerfully and quickly the colorful sounds of the instruments unfold in the space created by Jan Eric Kongshaug. If you then switch from the MSB to the Quest, you swap a little openness for a roughly equal portion of warmth in the sound. I don't recognize any differences in quality, but rather marginal advantages, sometimes in the preamp, sometimes in the preamp section integrated into the DAC. The MSB makes it easy to do without a dedicated preamp. It's a pity that I don't own an MSB that I could trade in to make the Cascade system more affordable for me!
STATEMENT
The MSB Cascade system is extremely expensive - and yet inexpensive in the best sense of the word. There's no need to talk about the enormous expense of the perfectly crafted housings or the fact that the price includes a truly high-end preamplifier. Once you have heard the Cascade DAC under adequate conditions - and can afford it - there is no going back!|

Im dänischen Aalborg befindet sich eine Hifi-Schmiede der Extraklasse. Hier produzieren Michael Børresen und sein Team Produkte, die nicht nur elegant aussehen, sondern auch mit außergewöhnlichen technischen Features ausgestattet sind – wie der Vollverstärker Aavik I-288, den uns die Audio Group Denmark zum Test geschickt hat. Scansonic HD gehört seit 2013 wie die wohlbekannte dänische Edelschmiede Raidho zur Firmengruppe Dantax. So ist es nicht weiter verwunderlich, dass in die Lautsprecherlinien von Scansonic immer auch die in der Entwicklung der High-End Lautsprecher von Raidho gewonnenen Erkenntnisse einfließen. Der Bändchenhochtöner der M-Serie kommt folglich nicht von ungefähr. Trotzdem spricht Scansonics M-Serie eine eigene, starke und wie ich finde sehr moderne Designsprache. Chord Company ChordMusic Kabel
Ich hatte schon einiges über die Kabel der englischen Chord Company gehört, aber bisher noch nicht das Vergnügen, eines davon in meiner Anlage zu hören. Deshalb war meine Vorfreude ausgesprochen groß, als ich den Auftrag erhielt, XLR-Verbindungen und Lautsprecherkabel der Top-Linie mit dem Namen ChordMusic einem ausführlichen Test zu unterziehen. Wilson Benesch Prime Meridian System – an approximation
I reviewed Wilson Benesch's first turntable in 1996, and the second two years later. Getting hold of the third for a review shouldn't have been a big deal, I thought. But it was – for several reasons: It's a really big thing, weighing over 350 kilograms, and the accompanying white paper is 138 pages long. Der iDSD Phantom vereint Streamer, DAC und Kopfhörerverstärker in bester iFi-Manier zu einem Alleskönner. iFi erreicht damit die höchstmögliche Ausbaustufe von stationärem HiFi.
